Hold a fundraising event

You can raise money for homeless women and, just as importantly, raise awareness in the community, by holding an event. Any member of the committee is available as a guest speaker to talk about homeless women and Second Chance initiatives. Here’s a few examples from some of our great supporters…

Run for a cause: The energetic Margo McLay ran the NY Marathon in November last year, an amazing feat in its own right, but Margo also raised $4350 for Second Chance at the same time. Margo used our Everyday Hero website  to raise money on behalf of Second Chance. Why not become our next Second Chance Everyday Hero?

Hold a lunch with a purpose: One of our supporters is planning a special lunch at a well-known Brisbane restaurant with the aim of raising $10,000 in one event, to go towards one of Second Chance’s 2012 projects.

Swear Jar – Another fabulous idea that supporters have brought to us! We all know that Aussies tend to have fowl mouths. Why not make it into a charitable cause? A few hundred dollars can go a long way.

Car Wash – Looking for ways to beat the heat or something fun to do with friends? Hold your own car wash! It’s a great community project and will certainly make customers happy while raising money for a good cause.

Other ideas: Having a significant birthday party / event soon? Make Second Chance your charity of choice and ask guests to donate rather than bring a gift. How about holding an afternoon tea with your friends on behalf of Second Chance?
